Albany Law School Clinic Experience

Albany Law School’s award-winning Clinic & Justice Center, established in 1981, combines theory and practice through its in-house public interest law firm, providing free legal services to eligible clients in the Capital Region. The Clinic’s mission is to provide high-quality legal representation and to teach students to be skilled professionals who practice law with compassion and sensitivity.

Clinic students:
— Are sworn in by a judge and serve as apprentice attorneys
— Improve lives by working with real clients on real cases
— Select a field placement/internship from among 150 options in New York’s powerful capital
— Develop legal skills and build a resume with real law experience
— Interview and counsel clients, negotiate with opposing attorneys, and argue before a judge
— Try criminal cases under district attorney, public defender, and faculty supervision
— Handle cases involving: immigration, landlord/tenant, tax, family law, health law, and more
